Breast is best slogan ‘must be axed’
The message, used by the government for decades, suggests breastfeeding is the preferred – rather than the normal – way to feed babies, they said.
It also reinforced the view that formula is the ‘standard’ way of feeding babies, according to The Breastfeeding Network.
‘Breastfeeding is the only case where the biological norm is expressed as the exception rather than the rule,’ said the organisation’s chairwoman, Lesley Backhouse.
